There are few places in America more breathtaking than the Oregon Coast on a sunny afternoon. Towering cliffs rise above crashing ocean waves, pine-covered mountains roll into the horizon, and endless sandy beaches stretch beneath skies so blue they almost don’t seem real. For Scout, Skye, and Ranger, it was the perfect setting for a weekend adventure—and the perfect place to test their brand-new DJI Flip Drone.

Scout had been talking about the drone nonstop for two weeks.

“Cinematic aerial footage changes everything,” he announced dramatically while unloading hiking gear from the truck. “We’re basically professional explorers now.”

Skye laughed. “You got the drone three days ago.”

“Exactly,” Scout replied confidently. “I’m highly experienced.”

Ranger tilted his head skeptically.

The group started their hike along a rugged coastal trail overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Cool ocean air drifted through the trees while waves crashed far below against rocky cliffs. About a mile into the hike, Scout stopped dramatically near a scenic overlook.

“This,” he announced, pointing toward the ocean, “is drone footage territory.”

Skye rolled her eyes. “You’ve been waiting all morning to say that.”

Scout carefully unpacked the DJI Flip Drone while Ranger watched with deep suspicion, likely convinced the drone was some kind of flying squirrel. What immediately impressed Skye was how easy the drone was to set up. Within moments, Scout had it powered on and ready to fly.

“Observe greatness,” Scout said confidently.

Skye blinked. “Okay… that was actually pretty cool.”

Through the Screen Remote Controller, they could see crystal-clear live footage of the mountains, beaches, and sparkling ocean waves below. The video quality was incredible. Every detail—from crashing surf to distant seabirds gliding above the water—looked unbelievably sharp in 4K resolution.

Even Scout looked impressed.

“Wow,” he admitted quietly. “That actually looks like a nature documentary.”

As they continued hiking, Scout activated another feature he’d been eager to try—the Follow Me mode. With just a few taps on the Screen Remote Controller, the drone locked onto them and began smoothly tracking their movement along the trail. It hovered behind them at just the right angle, capturing cinematic footage as they walked along the cliffs with the ocean stretching endlessly beside them.

Skye glanced back at the drone gliding effortlessly behind them. “Okay, now this is next-level.”

Even Ranger seemed impressed—though he occasionally glanced over his shoulder as if making sure the “flying squirrel” wasn’t gaining on him.

One of Skye’s favorite features was the Axis Gimbal Stabilization. Even with steady coastal winds blowing across the cliffs, the video footage remained smooth and cinematic. No shaky movement. No jerky camera angles. Just beautiful stabilized shots that looked professionally filmed.

As they reached a sandy beach tucked between rocky cliffs, Scout attempted what he called a “low-altitude cinematic fly-through.” Unfortunately, Ranger chose that exact moment to chase a seagull directly beneath the drone.

“Ranger!” Scout shouted.

The dog sprinted across the beach like he had suddenly become part greyhound, part rocket ship. The seagull escaped easily. Ranger did not.

Seconds later, he skidded face-first into a driftwood log and dramatically rolled sideways into the sand.

Skye laughed so hard she nearly dropped the remote controller.

Scout, meanwhile, was still focused entirely on the drone footage.

“Did we get that on video?” he asked excitedly.

“Your concern for Ranger is inspiring,” Skye replied.

Thankfully, Ranger stood up proudly, completely unharmed and somehow still convinced he had won the battle against the seagull.

As the afternoon continued, the DJI Flip Drone became the highlight of the adventure. The compact design made it easy to carry along the trail, while the intuitive controls made flying surprisingly simple—even for Scout, whose previous technology disasters included accidentally setting his microwave clock to military time for six months.

Sitting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific, Skye smiled as she reviewed the footage on the Screen Remote Controller.

“This is honestly one of the coolest pieces of adventure gear we’ve tested,” she admitted.

And she was right.

The DJI Flip Drone made the entire adventure more exciting, more memorable, and far more cinematic than simply snapping photos with a phone. Skye laughed. “Only if Ranger promises not to fight another seagull.”
