Scout, Skye & Ranger’s Great Mountain Mix-Up
Scout, Skye & Ranger’s Great Mountain Mix-Up
Scout had been bragging all morning.
“I’ve hiked these mountains enough times that I could find my way blindfolded,” he declared confidently as he tightened his backpack.
Skye smiled. “That’s comforting… because you usually seem to hike with your eyes on everything except the trail.”
Ranger barked happily, wearing his Tractive Smart Dog GPS Tracker securely on his collar as the three adventurers headed into the towering pines. Sunlight filtered through the trees, birds sang overhead, and crystal-clear streams wound through the forest.
About an hour into the hike, Scout suddenly froze.
“Hold everything!”
He pointed dramatically toward an enormous impression in the muddy trail.
“Look at that! That’s got to be Bigfoot’s footprint!“
Skye laughed. “Scout… that’s probably just a muddy depression.”
“No way,” Scout insisted, pulling out his phone. “History is about to remember the day Scout discovered Bigfoot!”
While Scout circled the mysterious footprint from every possible angle, Ranger quietly wandered off after an energetic chipmunk that clearly had no interest in cryptozoology.
Several minutes later, Scout proudly finished taking photos.
“Ready to keep—”
He stopped.
“Uh… where’s Ranger?”
Skye slowly crossed her arms.
“You mean the dog you were supposed to be watching?”
Scout spun around in circles.
“Ranger! Buddy! Come back! This isn’t funny!”
Only the wind answered.
“I knew this would happen someday,” Skye said with a grin. “Which is exactly why I put the Tractive Smart Dog GPS Tracker on Ranger before we left.”
She opened the Tractive app, and within seconds Ranger’s exact location appeared on the map.
“There he is,” she said. “About a quarter mile down the trail.”
Minutes later they found Ranger happily splashing in a mountain creek, proudly standing beside a very confused chipmunk that looked almost as surprised as Scout.
Scout knelt beside Ranger and scratched his ears.
“You’re lucky Skye plans ahead.”
Skye smiled. “Actually… you’re lucky I plan ahead.”
Scout laughed.
“Okay, I admit it. My old Apple AirTag would’ve been about as helpful out here as a compass made of spaghetti.”
Unlike an AirTag, which relies on nearby Apple devices to help report its location, the Tractive Smart Dog GPS Tracker uses GPS and cellular connectivity to provide real-time location tracking, making it a far better choice for hiking, camping, and remote outdoor adventures. Even deep in the mountains, Skye could quickly locate Ranger without hoping another iPhone user happened to pass nearby.
As they headed back toward camp, Scout looked over at Skye.
“I’ll never hear the end of this, will I?”
“Nope.”
Ranger barked twice, which everyone agreed sounded suspiciously like laughter.
