Scout had been bragging all morning.

“I’ve hiked these mountains enough times that I could find my way blindfolded,” he declared confidently as he tightened his backpack.

Skye smiled. “That’s comforting… because you usually seem to hike with your eyes on everything except the trail.”

“Ready to keep—”

He stopped.

“Uh… where’s Ranger?”

Skye slowly crossed her arms.

“You mean the dog you were supposed to be watching?”

Scout spun around in circles.

“Ranger! Buddy! Come back! This isn’t funny!”

Only the wind answered.
